DIY Christmas Wreaths

Weather you consider yourself crafty or not, I guarantee this is one project anyone can do.

With a little creativity you can make your own wreath!

And for a fraction of what a store bought decorated wreath costs.

I have been making Christmas wreaths for years.
Some for myself.
Some as gifts.

If you haven't made one yet, I hope you will soon...

For Christmas wreaths, I usually buy the preformed faux green wreaths from the store.
They are an inexpensive base for this project and they come in different sizes.

Then purchase embellishments that you like...
bows
ribbons
berries
ornaments

Or, use things from nature (for free!)...
pine cones
fresh greens
wild berries

When possible, I just tuck things into the wreath.
By not gluing them in place, I can change up the wreath year after year.
If the embellishments need to be secured, I try to use floral wire.

Sometimes all you need is a pretty bow.
Make your own...
Stores offer such a variety in ribbons, tulle, and burlap.

Or, you can purchase a pre-made bow.

Red bows on simple faux wreaths are all the dormers need to add some holiday cheer.

I love the simplicity of this wreath.
I tied a simple bow using a printed burlap ribbon.
It hangs on the garden shed door.

If it's a wreath that you want to use year after year or just want the security of knowing that everything will stay in place, a glue gun comes in handy...

Pine cones, berries, and small ornaments make this a favorite of mine...
One I have used for a few years now.
I simply hot glued the embellishments in place.

This year it adorns the wall in my office.

This wreath was fun to decorate with faux candies (hot glued in place).

It hangs in my girl's bathroom.

Don't want a faux green wreath?

How about burlap?
Burlap wreaths are easy to make and by tucking the embellishments in, you can change it as frequently as you want.
