And then, I'll email you the explanations and such.

It is too early to graft branches right now. Grafting is done either late fall (best time) or early spring. Right now, the tree is awake and fully metabolizing. The branches require a lot of fluids and nutrients. It you graft them now, they won't get enough for survival and dry out.

They must be grafted when they loose foliage and in the state of dormancy preparing for the winter or coming out of winter. At that time, their metabolism is slow enough that they can survive on the fluids and nutrients that the "surrogate parent" tree provides. The slow process allows branches to heal into the tree without dying.

More later.

KimberlyKimberly @ KimRidge Farmhttp://www.kimridgefarm.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8773090664517222302.post-22087901139533849462015-05-01T15:17:06.270-04:002015-05-01T15:17:06.270-04:00Well...if Coke contacts me, I'll let you know ...Well...if Coke contacts me, I'll let you know Kimberly. HA HA!
What a great idea to graft this tree with the new apple trees that we planted. I do not know how, so I anxiously await your feedback.
LoriLL Farmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06748461729786972153noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8773090664517222302.post-86972641080022602842015-05-01T13:53:32.888-04:002015-05-01T13:53:32.888-04:00This is absolutely amazing! And nice arrangements too.

By the way, just a thought. Is this tree of any value to you? Or, may be it bore some incredible quality fruit? The reason I am asking is because you can graft it.

I don't know how to do it just yet, but my husband knows, and I will ask him. From what I know, you can graft apple tree branches onto a crab apple tree or another hardy apple, just like with roses. But you probably do this already. I don't though, it's all new to me.

We are planting crab apples in our orchard in order to graft some apple branches onto them to save some of our old and damaged apple trees.

Either way, your pictures look incredible. They make me thirsty for some ice tea infused with apple petals.

KimberlyKimberly @ KimRidge Farmhttp://www.kimridgefarm.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8773090664517222302.post-70438967911179488062015-05-01T10:50:32.951-04:002015-05-01T10:50:32.951-04:00Thanks for visiting from Poland!
