Green Beans and Garlic Sauteed in Butter then Sprinkled with Parmesan Cheese

Green Bean casserole.
Green Beans cooked in water.
Green Beans in soups and casseroles.
yawn yawn - I want something different.

Green Beans and garlic sauteed in butter and sprinkled with parmesan cheese!
Can I get an OH YEAH!
OH YEAH!  Handy Hubby and both girls even liked them!!!!!!!!!!!!

What an amazing taste!
The taste of  these green beans are at a whole new level!
This is my new favorite way to fix green beans.

I am thankful that we still have frozen green beans from last year's garden.
The other night, I wanted to try something different, yet simple to go with supper.

Melt a couple tablespoons of butter in a large skillet
Add green beans (I freeze mine in quart size bags)
Add 2 cloves of finely chopped garlic
Salt and Pepper
Cook over medium-high heat until the beans start to brown (approximately 5 - 10 minutes)
Stir frequently so they don't burn
After you plate the green beans, add finely shredded parmesan cheese

Did you know...

There are many health benefits to green beans:

*  Low in calories

*  No saturated fat

*  Rich in fiber

*  They are a good source of vitamins B1, B6, C and K

  1. This looks really good! I am obsessed with parmesan lately, especially in salads! Blessings, Cecilia

    1. I will admit that I am not a HUGE fan of a lot of parmesan, but it is delicious on these green beans.

  2. Sounds good! I will give it a try. Like you said something different. Have a good week Lori.

  3. I love beans but my hubs will only eat canned ones? He has no taste! I love to use Parmesan cheese on my zucchini, gives them such flavor so I'll try on my beans, a little parm goes a long way!

    1. Cathy,
      I can relate...I grew up on canned green beans, so that's the only flavor I knew. Frozen green beans definitely have a different taste. That's why this flavor blew me different...soooo good! I don't think the texture of canned beans would hold up to the sauteing, where as fresh or frozen holds their crunch. Something so simple - so good!

  4. These look really good! Thank goodness both me and my husband love fresh green beans (and Lindsay too). I usually sauté mine with lemon and garlic, but wow, we love parmesan cheese, Can't wait to try it with that! Thank you for the recipe, LL! Have a great day! :)

    1. Hhmm...I bet lemon gives it a nice kick too. Thanks Christine.

  5. I make green bean similar to this but have never tried with the parmesan. I will have to give it a go with the cheese, sounds great! Thank you for sharing with Idea Box link party! Have a great weekend!

    1. I have always ate canned green beans and am used to that to me, this was a WOW taste! Have a great weekend.

  6. Nothing like fresh green beans! I've done something similar and they are delish!! Thanks for sharing with SYC.

  7. These sound amazing! I can't wait to try it when my beans come in!

    Thanks for linking up with Green Thumb Thursday! I hope you'll join us again this week!

    1. I know it's a simple green bean, but I grew up on canned beans. This flavor was just so different! I hope you like them too.
