Pumpkins and Baby Chicks

Isn't this Aeracana baby chick adorable perched on a ceramic pumpkin?
She has grown into a beautiful chicken.
We are still waiting for that first blue egg from her!

Do you remember when I did the Baby Chick Photo Shoot back in April?

I had so much fun posing those cute little things...

I took these pictures back in the Spring when the chicks were just a few days old.

I thought I would share them on this gloomy Monday to put a smile on your face ;-)

Custom Painted Drawer Pulls

When I was making over my recent auction find I had a vision...

I wanted a dark stain to match the other antique pieces in the room, but I wanted to add a touch of color that would compliment the blue decor in my daughter's room.

A Cinderella Tale (Of A Dresser)

She spent years in the basement...

                    She gathered dust...
                                                    cobwebs...
                                                                     that musty smell...

Once a beautiful piece, I'm sure.

                                                 She was...
                                                            forgotten.

Fall Gardening (in Containers)

Well the garden harvest has come and gone.

I wanted to plow the garden and plant a few things in the space for a fall garden, but time got away from us.

                                               So...

                                                       I improvised!

Pumpkin Time

Pumpkin time is Fall time.  The cooler weather calls me outside to enjoy the crisp air.

I prefer the weather of Fall over Summer.
It's time for warm sweaters and a cozy scarves.

Why Do Chickens Dust Bathe?

Have you ever saw a chicken flopping around in a shallow hole in the ground?

This is actually a natural order of chickens.

It's called dust bathing (and can be quite entertaining to watch).

Taco Salad

Taco Salad is one of those dishes that is good all year round.

In the summer I love using garden fresh tomatoes and lettuce.

It is an easy make ahead dish to take to reunions or cook-outs, any time of year.

I have even served it at buffet style get togethers.

It's a great way to sneak some beans into those picky eaters...smoosh them into the hamburger mixture with a potato masher. ;-)

Polenta (Quick, Easy, and Cheesy)

Have you tried polenta?

I was intimidated at first...

it takes a long time to make...

the water has to be just the right temperature...

you can only use a wooden spoon...

                                                it's a fancy dish...

Reality is that polenta is simply cornmeal made into a thick, delicious yumminess with just a few flavorful ingredients added.

Decorating With Sticks

Decorating with sticks...
isn't that a weird title?

Other titles in the running were...

Nature at it's best.
Decorating with branches.
Simple Autumn decor.

But, decorating with sticks won!

Autumn's Beautiful Wildflowers

Tucked in between all the glorious colored leaves of reds, golds, and greens...

Were these beautiful wildflowers...

Shouting with vibrant color variations of purples, yellows, and whites.

Some still patiently waiting to bloom.

As I walked toward these gems hidden along our creek bank,

          I took

                  slow

                        deep

                              breaths.

Aahhh...

Autumn's enticing aromas...

Nature's beautiful colors...

A combination that makes my heart sing.

I also clipped some wild berries...
