Quiche

Quiche
pronounced keesh
When my oldest daughter was younger she pronounced it kwish.
So, of course we still call it that sometimes ;-)

Have you ever made quiche?
It is easy to assemble, using ingredients that you probably already have on hand.

I must admit, it tastes better now a days, than it used to, because we use our own farm fresh eggs!

I am not the kind of person that gets up at the crack of dawn to make a lavish breakfast.
So....This is one of those breakfast recipes that we have for supper!

Does anyone else do that, or are we just weird?

How did it become that eggs are a primary breakfast food anyway?
What about lunch?  What about supper?

My favorite meat to use in quiche is bacon.
Ham, turkey, chicken, or your favorite meat works fine also.
You could also go meatless if that is your fancy.

I usually have cheddar or colby jack cheese in the fridge, so that is what I use.

I love to use parsley...for the flavor and for the beautiful color that it gives the quiche.

Recipe for Quiche

4 beaten eggs
1 1/2 cups milk
salt and pepper
parsley
4 pieces (or more) cooked bacon, crumbled
8 ounces shredded cheddar cheese
1 tablespoon flour
9 inch pie shell

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a bowl, stir together eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and parsley.
Stir in bacon.
Toss together cheese and flour.  Then stir into egg mixture.
Pour mixture into a pie shell.
Bake for 40 minutes, or until knife inserted near center comes out clean.

I always double this recipe, hoping for leftovers for lunches the next day.
I heat a couple slices up in the microwave and pack them in little lunch thermoses for the girls.
Yum Yum!

  3. Love quiche. In fact we had what I call a crust less salmon pie for dinner tonight. Salmon, Swiss cheese, onions, parsley, milk, eggs, 2 T flour, salt and pepper to taste. Topped with a sprinkle of parmesan......Yumm, and so easy.

    1. Yes, use two pie shells if you are going to double the recipe. Double the mixture ingredients and distribute into both pie shells.
