Smoothies are a great way to beat the heat!
Actually, I make smoothies all year long ;-)
This recipe is simple to pull together, using only 3 ingredients.
Frozen fruit, honey, and milk.
Frozen Fruit
Frozen fruit is important to this recipe because it eliminates the need for ice.
I buy frozen strawberries and mixed berries all year round...
Use your favorite kind of berry.
Milk
We use whole milk, but you can use whatever type of milk you like.
Sweetener
We have friends that harvest their own honey. I love to use it as a sweetener in many things...smoothies included.
Locally harvested honey has lots of health benefits...this is a great way to sneak it in for those that think they don't like honey. ;-)
Don't have or like honey...use 1 - 2 tablespoons of your favorite sweetener (sugar, stevia, splenda, etc)...add more to satisfy your taste buds.

For one smoothie, add to the blender:
1 cup of frozen fruit
1 cup of milk
1 - 2 tablespoons honey
Blend until smooth
I also like to add a cut up banana to the blend for another layer of flavor.

So simple and delicious. Much healthier than a milk shake.
What a great idea to use frozen fruit. I used to not like honey but it was because I had only tasted the grocery-store honey. Lately, we have found a locally harvested honey and what a difference!!!! I really like honey now. I'm off to the kitchen to make this smoothie.
ReplyDeleteI'd love one of these right now!!!
