Tomatoes, peppers, and zucchini lasted a good while in our garden this year. I credit most of the success to the good soil prep and the raised beds that weren't full of weeds.
In August, I planted more seeds to be able to enjoy a fall harvest...
The radishes took only a few weeks to mature.
Lettuce seeds quickly grew into beautiful, delicious leaves.
The kale was a flop...for the summer and fall plantings. Maybe I'll change their place in the garden next year.
Most everything else has been pulled up and the garden is ready for a long winter nap.
This is my first time having a fall garden and I hope to expand my plantings for next year.
I'm always learning...
Your garden is amazingly beautiful. It looks like it's out of an iconic house and garden magazine. I've never tried planting a fall garden. It may work well here in SoCal. I hope your having a fabulous autumn. Pat xx
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Pat! Oh what you could grow year round in your location...
DeleteI was wondering where you've been!
ReplyDeleteThe garden layout looks lovely. Isn't it wonderful experimenting with different things each season? I am working on growing kale, lettuce, snap peas, beets, carrots, Brussels sprouts, broccoli and Swiss Chard this fall/winter. Kale can even be harvested after a snowfall! Glad you had such a successful harvest season. Enjoy your down time!
I'm here...life just gets a little crazy sometimes. But, like you, I find comfort in my garden. I'm sure your harvest will be amazing!
DeleteYour garden always looks beautiful! Love that you got your fall planting in!
ReplyDeleteThanks Vickie. Have a great evening.
DeleteWhat a fantastic garden!! All our freezers are full of goodies out of our garden as well - it's the best feeling to be able to pull something out of the freezer in the winter that you grew in the summer!
