I like to do my pickin' in the early morning before it gets so hot.
This morning's harvest is going to help provide our meals for the day...
Lettuce and tomatoes for a lunch salad.
Green beans mixed with taters and bacon will be supper.
Every morning brings an abundance of zucchini.
Even enough to share with the chickens right there on the spot.
I'm hoping to make some freezer pickles with the cucumbers soon.
What are you pickin' these days?

Wow, LL! What a beautiful bounty of fresh veggies! I've got my pumpkins in October I'm waiting on, and I made a Summer squash casserole this past weekend! Have a lovely week! ~CB
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing your harvest of pumpkins!
DeleteWhat a great harvest! I love your crate too. I found an old Pepsi crate at a salvage not too long ago, and I just need to clean it up a bit and use it. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the soda crates...such a fun piece to use as decor and picture props!
DeleteHi Lori, Do you know how to keep the cucumbers plants from getting yellow spots on the leaves?
ReplyDeleteI use a product called Sevin Dust for insects. Also if possible give the plants something to 'climb' or put straw under and around the plant. Hope one of those works for you.
DeleteLooks like you have a nice garden! I finally have a few tomatoes to pick, but we didn't get anything else planted due to all the rains.
ReplyDeleteWe are just starting to get ripe tomatoes. We had lots of rain too...
DeleteWhat a great harvest for the day! I love the looks of your green beans. I can't wait till this weekend when I think ours will be ready to pick! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteToday my oldest and I picked two 5 gallon buckets full. She snapped them now I'm going to freeze them.
DeleteFantastic harvest and I love the idea of using a coco cola crate for harvesting.

I do love that crate. It is so versatile.
DeleteWe are still getting cucumbers, peppers and lots of tomatoes, but boy it is work in this TX heat! So much watering... But, loving the bounty. There is nothing better than fresh green beans and potatoes. YUM!
ReplyDeleteOur pepper plants aren't doing well this year. You're right, it is hard working in the garden when it's sooooo hot. But aahhh the harvest.
DeleteI have so little sun in my garden but I always have tomatoes and herbs! So that's what I pick...so happy for your harvest!
ReplyDeleteTomato and basil salad is one of my favorites! I even have it in my blog header ;-)
DeleteThanks for sharing this with us on the Homestead Blog Hop.
