Farm Photo Friday (July 24, 2015)

Silver Laced and Aeracauna chickens strike a pose

Welcome to Farm Photo Friday!

There is a lot going on here on our little homestead...
Home projects...
Garden...
Animals...
There are opportunities knocking on our door...
It's summer...the girls are out of school...

...I haven't posted a Farm Photo Friday for a couple weeks, so...
this post is picture heavy...

I hope you find something that puts a smile on your face or intrigues you!

The Chickens:
This Black Star chicken proudly let me capture her beautiful colors with my phone one morning.

Look at the beautiful teal color!  She glistens in the sunlight.

The different colored legs are mesmerizing to me...check them out...
white, yellow, grey, yellow/black.
Our Newest Animal:
We have had this cow for about a month now.
She has a heart shape on her head!
The Apple Trees:
Old apple tree

New apple tree
The Garden:
I pick zucchini EVERY morning.

Look closely...do you see the green beans?
The white buds will soon be beans too.

cherry tomatoes

No garden is complete without a ladybug, right?
In The Wooded Area:
wild blackberries

blooms, bees, and butterflies
wild flowers
Thank you for visiting!

  4. The Aeracauna (brownish) colored chicken will lay blue eggs! If I miss a zucchini and it gets real big I give it to the chickens...they love it ;-)

  7. I enjoyed all your photos, but the heart shape on the head of the cow made me smile! I'm about to give up on gardening. The deer eat everything around here and just the other day, they polished off all the peaches that I was looking forward to picking. I guess I was a day too late.

    1. Cheryl, we had problems with deer last year...try putting human hair on your plants (from a hair brush). It truly does help keep the deer away. I used it in the garden (we now have a fence) and I used it on our Apple trees...

  8. Your animals are just adorable and your flowers are awesome! Hubby tried to grow some veggies last year here in New Zealand and we had zucchini all summer, too!
