Homemade Beef Broth

Have you made your own beef broth yet?

It is so easy, you can make it while you sleep.
Seriously!

It's up to you if you want to dream about it, but rest assured...

...in the morning your nose will thank you as the delicious smell will be making magic in your kitchen.

...and later, when you cook with the homemade goodness, your taste buds will definitely thank you.

In a crock pot put some beef bones (raw or cooked) along with any vegetables and seasoning that you like.
A combination of onion, carrots, celery, salt, pepper, and parsley are staples in my kitchen, so that's what I usually use.

Sometimes I don't add any vegetables.

Cover the concoction with water, put the lid on, set on low heat, and let it cook for at least 24 hours.

After cooking for at least 24 hours, let it cool.

Then strain the liquid into containers.

Put it in the fridge overnight.

The next day, the fat will have solidified on top.  Remove this layer.

Then into freezer camp the broth goes until you are ready for it.

Home made beef broth adds such a depth of flavor (and color) to many dishes...

soups
stews
casseroles
pasta

I like to use quart size freezer containers like these:

  1. what mouth watering post and photo!!!
my mom owned lots of chicken and used to make chicken broth often in winters but now after marriage i moved to my hubby's area which is quite and winters are mild here so in age of forty plus beef would be little heavier to my stomach as i survived stomach ulcer few years ago.
yet loved your post dear friend!
