It may not produce very good apples anymore...
But, it sure does provide some beautiful branches.
When paired with OLD mason jars, an OLD Coke crate, and an OLD rooster...
It looks like the youngest thing there!
Enjoy the little things in life,
for one day
you may look back
and realize they were
the big things.

I couldn't agree more! Such a pretty little ensemble you gathered together! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Jes!
DeleteHi, Lori. I love your arrangement and the apple blossoms. We have similar tastes! Right now, in my potting shed, I have a Seven-up crate with a plant in it, and I have very similar pitchers. xoxo Su
ReplyDeleteI'm glad we have 'met' each other through blogging Su!
DeleteLL, Your apple blossoms arrangement is so lovely, and those lemonade slushies really look refreshing! :) xo CB
ReplyDeleteThanks CB. I like using branches in vases when possible.
DeleteNow that's a beautiful vignette. I would love it if you would share this fabulous post at our WIW Linky Party. Hope you can join us!

DeleteWow I love your arrangement:-)
ReplyDeleteAnd the old Coke crate is just great, I'm looking for such an old crate but so far no luck:-)
Greetings from Poland:-)
Thanks for visiting from Poland! I searched quite a while for the Coke crate...found other brands and higher prices too many times. I picked this up at a flea market recently ;-)
DeleteThis is absolutely amazing! Coca Cola should read your post, come up with Apple Cola drink and pay you royalties for it :)
ReplyDeleteYou take such beautiful photos! And nice arrangements too.
By the way, just a thought. Is this tree of any value to you? Or, may be it bore some incredible quality fruit? The reason I am asking is because you can graft it.
I don't know how to do it just yet, but my husband knows, and I will ask him. From what I know, you can graft apple tree branches onto a crab apple tree or another hardy apple, just like with roses. But you probably do this already. I don't though, it's all new to me.
We are planting crab apples in our orchard in order to graft some apple branches onto them to save some of our old and damaged apple trees.
Either way, your pictures look incredible. They make me thirsty for some ice tea infused with apple petals.
Kimberly
Well...if Coke contacts me, I'll let you know Kimberly. HA HA!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to graft this tree with the new apple trees that we planted. I do not know how, so I anxiously await your feedback.
Lori
I asked my husband and he said that he will teach me how to graft branches. And then, I'll email you the explanations and such.
DeleteIt is too early to graft branches right now. Grafting is done either late fall (best time) or early spring. Right now, the tree is awake and fully metabolizing. The branches require a lot of fluids and nutrients. It you graft them now, they won't get enough for survival and dry out.
They must be grafted when they loose foliage and in the state of dormancy preparing for the winter or coming out of winter. At that time, their metabolism is slow enough that they can survive on the fluids and nutrients that the "surrogate parent" tree provides. The slow process allows branches to heal into the tree without dying.
More later.
Kimberly
Thanks Kimberly! Looking forward to learning the process.
DeleteThose branches are lovely! I think I'm going to do this...because our apple trees aren't old, but they still don't give more then about 3 apples a year! lol Might as well enjoy the branches since I'm not enjoying apples!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up with Green Thumb Thursday. We hope to see you again this week!
