Although beautiful, the frigid temps and wind chills have meant extra care for our farm animals, and all are doing fine.
The chickens have a cozy coop, plenty of straw, food, water, and even some wood ash for dust bathing.
I usually have at least one barn cat 'help' me with the morning chores.
The creek is frozen and covered with snow.
Sometimes my body wishes it was younger so I could go ice skating, like I did when I was a kid.
I have fond memories of skating on ponds and creeks with my brother and cousins.
We have enjoyed some of our garden harvest this winter...
...and plenty of farm-to-table and woods-to-table meals.
Stay cozy friends, and enjoy the beauty that everyday offers!
Nice photos. I love the chickens in the snow. Your garden is inviting even with the snow.
ReplyDeleteThank you! The chickens spend a lot of time outside (mostly under their coop), even in the frigid cold. I'm so happy we did the raised beds in the garden. ;-)
DeleteIt looks lovely. I especially like the serene image of the garden at rest.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend, Lori!
Thanks Daisy! How the snow covered the garden really caught my eye.
DeleteBeautiful photos.. The snow looks so pretty..
ReplyDeleteThank you! I absolutely love snow and how it can make something so simple just shine with beauty. I guess it's all in how you look at things.
DeleteIce skating on the pond or the neighborhood rink was my most favorite winter sport when I was growing up. Our winters were long and wonderful. Thank you for sharing your photos, Lori! (I am still following your blog:). Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteThank you. Yes, winter can be wonderful, if you allow it to be. I try to enjoy each season. Happy New Year Kimberly.
