Yard Sale Dresser Gets A Makeover

Don't you just love yard sales?

Someone else's junk/trash can become your treasure...

I recently bought this dresser at a yard sale.
I was drawn to the simplicity of it, with just a bit of  scallop on the bottom.

It is made of solid wood...not that corrugated stuff that falls apart from my teen stuffing the drawers full ;-)

It has 6 drawers...lots of space for all her stuff.

Overall, I must confess this piece was in good shape.

The finish was a little rough, but nothing that a little paint couldn't fix.

This project shows that a little paint can make a world of difference in a piece's appearance.

I chose chalk paint...mainly because I don't like to do a lot of prep work.

But also because I already had some white chalk paint on hand from my mudroom farmhouse bench makeover.

No sanding was needed, just a wipe down to clean it up.

I used Annie Sloan Pure White Chalk paint all over the piece.
Take a look at the coverage after just starting.

I ended up doing 2 light coats on this dresser.

Doesn't she look beautiful?

It's a classic white dresser that will never go out of style.

The best news?
Combining the price of the dresser and the paint was still a lot cheaper than a brand new piece!
