Black Bean Burger

Black bean burger.

This is a first for me.

I had never eaten a bean burger before.

Disclosure:
I love a good 'ole hamburger.
I didn't make this to stray away, I simply wanted to try something different.

Pretty good, I must say...

I mashed up the beans and added an onion.

Some bread crumbs, salt, pepper, dried parsley, and a farm fresh egg round out the ingredients.

Make the patties to the desired shape you want.
They do not shrink up like a beef burger does.

I cooked them in some butter for a little extra flavor.

You can doctor them up how ever you want.
Cheese.  Mayonnaise.  Lettuce.  Mustard.  Ketchup.  Pickles.  Tomato.

Black Bean Burger
2 cans black beans, drained
1 onion, diced
1 cup bread crumbs
1 egg
salt, pepper, and dried parsley to taste

In a bowl add the two cans of drained black beans.
Mash with a fork, leaving some beans visible.
Add the onion, bread crumbs, egg, salt, pepper and dried parsley.
Stir all together.

Heat 2 tablespoons of butter in a skillet over medium-high heat.
Form the bean mixture into patties. (The patties will not shrink like beef patties do.)
Fry the patties 5 minutes per side, or until heated through.

Eat plain or on a bun piled high with your favorite condiments.
