Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars (made with pretzels)

Do you like the combination of chocolate and peanut butter?

How 'bout the salty bite of a pretzel?

Then we should be best friends!

If you enjoy these flavors, then you are in for a treat today.

Easy

No Bake

Delectable Dessert

I have made a similar recipe before using graham crackers in the base, but this recipe calls for pretzels.

The recipe is adapted from Trisha Yearwood's cookbook titled "Trisha's Table"
which I recently received as a birthday gift from my Hubby and daughter.

I made these bars for the high school tennis team that my daughter plays on.
The girls devoured them...not a single crumb left!
They were a huge hit at home too ;-)

Recipe for Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars (made with pretzels)

2 cups broken pretzels
1 1/2 sticks of melted butter
1 1/2 cups confectioners sugar
1 1/4 cups smooth peanut butter
1 1/2 cups milk chocolate chips

Put the pretzels in a sealed bag and smash with a rolling pin.
(Once smashed, I ended up with about 1 1/2 cups pretzels.)

In a bowl, combine the smashed pretzels, melted butter, confectioners sugar, and 1 cup peanut butter.

Press evenly into an ungreased 9x13 dish.

Melt the remaining 1/4 cup peanut butter and the chocolate chips in the microwave at 30 second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth.

Spread the smooth chocolate peanut butter mixture over the pretzel peanut butter layer.

Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before cutting.

I know people that do not like chocolate or peanut butter alone, but combined together in something like this, they love it.

What makes the combination of chocolate and peanut butter so tantalizing?
